Xsights and the Federation of Schizophrenia Association
What
The primary objective of the research was to understand the level of information about schizophrenia and the source of stigmatisation among members of the public. The results provided important insight for the federation of Schizophrenia enabling them to build an effective program on fighting the stigma behind schizophrenia.
How
The research was carried out by the Federation of Schizophrenia Associations in Turkey. The questionnaire was designed by a committee of academics and the interviews were carried out Through Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) methodology. An initial pilot study was also carried out before the full survey
Impact
The programme has helped inform decision making about necessary policy changes which is required to allow schizophrenics a life free from long-term unemployment, poverty, homelessness, exploitation and victimisation which is a life worth living without the intolerable burden of life\'s social pressures.
